Victron bpr000065400 energy battery protect 12/24v 65a

The BatteryProtect disconnects the battery from non-essential loads before the battery is completely discharged (which would damage the battery) or before there is insufficient power left to start the engine.

The BatteryProtect is a unidirectional device. It can only handle current in one direction, either current to a load or current from a charger, but not both currents simultaneously. In addition, current can only flow from the battery terminal to the load terminal. When used with a load, the battery is connected to the battery terminal, and when used with a charger, the charger is connected to the battery terminal.

Features of the Battery Protect 12/24V 65A

Overvoltage protection

To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected when the DC voltage exceeds 16V or 32V respectively.

Ignition resistant

No relays, but MOSFET switches, so no sparks.

12/24V automatic range setting

The BatteryProtect 12/24V 65A automatically detects the system voltage once (can be reactivated – see Programming Table section).

Programming made easy

The BatteryProtect 12/24V 65A can be set to switch on and off at different voltages.

The seven-segment display indicates which setting has been selected.

Delayed alarm output

The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage drops below the preset disconnect level for more than 12 seconds. Starting the engine therefore does not activate the alarm. The alarm output is a short-circuit-proof open collector output to the negative (minus) rail, max. current 50 mA. The alarm output is typically used to activate a buzzer, LED or relay.

Delayed load disconnection and delayed reconnection

The load is disconnected 90 seconds after the alarm is activated. If the battery voltage rises again to the connection threshold within this time period (e.g. after the engine has started), the load is not disconnected.

The load is reconnected 30 seconds after the battery voltage has risen above the preset reconnection voltage.

A special setting for Li-ion

In this mode, the BatteryProtect 12/24V 65A can be controlled by the VE.Bus BMS.

Very low power consumption

This is important for Li-ion batteries, especially after a shutdown due to low voltage.
